So… Who am I?

Carter Fensterstock is a jazz pianist from Rockville, Maryland currently studying jazz and commercial music under Professor Eric Byrd at the Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester Virginia. Within the Conservatory’s jazz department Carter participates in a variety of ensembles including the Studio Big Band, and multiple jazz combos. In January 2024 he traveled with the Studio Big Band to Peru where he toured for two weeks and in that same month he founded the Carter Fensterstock Quintet which he leads and manages. In addition to his ensembles, he is also the social media manager for the Shenandoah Jazz Department.

Outside of his school ensembles and responsibilities, Carter regularly gigs around the DMV area, including performances with the Loudoun County Symphony Orchestra and the Yesterday Swing Orchestra. During his years at Rockville High School he was a member of the school's jazz ensemble which played at world renowned jazz club The Keystone Korner. During his senior year he received the Montgomery County Superintendents Fine Arts Award for Music Performance and was one of the first to receive the Ruth and Norman Rales Scholarship.
